What is double donation IVF?
Double donation in vitro fertilisation consists of fertilising a donated ovum with donated spermatozoa. It is a complex treatment in which our medical team works in continuous contact with the assisted reproduction laboratory.
Both donors are selected according to the traits of the patients.

- Older patients.
- Patients with fertility problems.
- No male partner.

Before starting double donation in vitro fertilisation treatment, a personalised individual study of the couple is necessary, and the donors must be selected.
The basic tests performed during this consultation are:
- Ultrasound scan to confirm that the uterus is in suitable condition to begin treatment.
- Testing for infectious diseases.
However, our specialist medical team may decide more tests are necessary.
Starting Treatment
Once the donors are selected and all test results found to be satisfactory, the endometrium is prepared for the
transfer of the embryo previously created in the assisted reproduction laboratory.
Transfer
On the first day of the recipient’s period, treatment begins with hormone replacement therapy (HRT). The gynaecologist will monitor the patient with ultrasound scans until the endometrium is ready for
transfer. At this point progesterone is added to the treatment and the transfer is scheduled.
Pregnancy Test
La prueba de embarazo se realiza entre 10-14 días post transferencia.
