IVF + DGP
What is IVF + PGT?
This treatment combines IVF with the PGT test for genetic defects.
After fertilisation, we extract cells to analyse in our laboratory in order to detect certain diseases.
This technique means we can be sure of having a healthy baby.

When is it indicated?
- Older women.
- A parent with a hereditary genetic disease.
- Several unsuccessful fertility treatments

The IVF + PGT process
Consult our specialists
Before starting an in vitro fertilisation treatment with PGT, a personalised individual study of the couple is necessary. The basic tests performed during this consultation are:
- Ultrasound scan to confirm that the uterus and ovaries are in suitable condition to begin treatment.
- Ovarian reserve testing. This analyses the anti-Mullerian hormone, estradiol and FSH, plus an
ultrasound antral follicle count.
- Testing for infectious diseases.
- Seminogram of the partner.
However, our specialist medical team will decide if more tests are necessary in each case.
Starting Treatment
Once we have the results of all the tests, treatment can begin.
The first stage consists of ovarian stimulation. This is done by administering gonadotropins, beginning in the first three days of menstruation.
This medication provides a controlled stimulation of the ovaries. About 5 days after stimulation begins, medication with GnRH antagonists is added, which controls the ovarian stimulation and enables a better response to the gonadotropins,
as well as avoiding an LH spike to stop ovulation.
This medication must be taken daily.
Approximately every 48 hours, ultrasound scans will be taken to monitor the follicles, and the gynaecologist will decide when the follicular puncture should take place. At this moment the patient must stop taking all the medication and be given an injection to induce ovulation. Ovulation can be induced by a GnRH hormone agonist.
In Vitro Fertilisation
The follicular puncture will take place 36 hours after this medication is given.
DGP
A few days after fertilisation, a cell will be extracted from each embryo in order to study their DNA and look for the most common genetic diseases.
Once we have the results of this study, the patient can be prepared for the transfer.
Transfer
The embryos can be transferred in the next menstrual cycle, starting hormone replacement treatment (HRT) on the first day of menstruation. The gynaecologist will monitor
the patient with ultrasound scans until the endometrium is ready for transfer. At this point progesterone is added to the treatment and the transfer is scheduled.
Pregnancy Test
La prueba de embarazo se realiza entre 10-14 días post transferencia.

FAQs
This is a safe technique that allows for precise genetic analysis without affecting the embryo.
From 2 to 4 weeks, depending on the embryos.
Because after the age of 35 the quality of the ovaries begins to deteriorate, so DGP testing can increase the conception success rate.
This technique can be used to know the baby’s gender, but Spanish law does not permit choosing the gender.
